Harlesden Clean Up Challenge
The project
Litter picking can be much more than ensuring the streets are clean daily. We decided to have conversations with the community about littering by creating a clean-up challenge involving residents, families, children and young people and to raise awareness of how best to reduce, reuse, and recycle waste in the Harlesden area.
The Veolia Sustainability Fund supported the initiative for Harlesden to #buildbackbetter from the impact of the pandemic.
Workshops
During the day, groups travelled with their litter pickers and bags through 4 locations designed on the map. While they would clean the streets, fun and environmentally friendly activities would await them:

The use of recycled, reused or reclaimed materials

Helping to protect and preserve resources or enhance local environments and green spaces

Having a positive impact on plastic waste
